PORTFOLIO > GOVERNMENT > CASE STUDY: Ft. Benning Shopping Center
The Fort Benning project was a 230,000 square foot Shopping Center (PX), consisting of a mall area with National Chain vendors, pharmacy, optical shop, salon, barber, day spa, military clothing sales, six concept food court, and Starbucks.
The main retail space was 110,000 square feet that resembled a major department store with an Outdoor Living Area. The back of the facility housed the Administrative Offices as well as Warehouse space complete with loading docks. The building was conventional steel construction with single-ply roofing and brick veneer.
The site was unique in that the 21 acre site had recognized wetlands on both sides that had to be maintained while making improvements. Site improvements included six underground storm detention systems, sanitary sewer, curb and gutter, and over 11 acres of asphalt and concrete paving.
The project was completed 60 days ahead of schedule, which facilitated Owner occupancy prior to the Christmas shopping season.
